Spending a day away :)

It's been months since my last post. MONTHS. The engagement has been a WHIRLWIND!

Between school, travelling, wedding planning, stressing, and of course trying to lose a bajillion pounds so I can look okay on my wedding day--life is pretty stressful! Probably the hardest part is that Derek and I seem to spend most of our time on wedding errands and not really quality-happy-time...(speaking of which, like five other things just popped into my head that need to be done...)

Just recently, Derek and I did manage to pry ourselves away from all the fuss surrounding the wedding and we took a wonderful trip to SILVERWOOD! Derek is the most fun road-trip taker ever. We didn't even need music on the way there, we just chatted and had fun!
On our way!
We went on the Spin Cycle first. It was so so fun and scary! I screamed the whole time! :)
I really don't like rides like this. Derek made me go on it. I still didn't like it.
(See how much I love you?)
In addition to all the wooden roller coasters, we went on the newish metal one, Aftershock! I have gone on a similar one (Vertigo @ Great America) but it didn't go straight up like this...I was pretty scared, not gunna lie!!! It was crazy fun!

We took a break and got some yummy elephant ears! We still have tons of leftovers.... After our snack, we went on a log flume (I didn't get wet at all....Derek got DRENCHED!) and then ran back to the car to get our swim gear to head over to the water park!

Wave pool! P.S. I have never seen a person love wave pools as much as Derek does. I was laughing so hard I hiccuped for like thirty minutes.

We went on the inter-tube slides,  and then we went on these babies! The speed slides! Derek did all three, and I did the covered one and the one with two hills! I always thought the covered one was less scary, but it seemed to be the craziest of the two.

No matter how tight you cross your legs, you will get a wedgie. But it is fun! Promise!
Yummm!
Getting in and out of the water was so so cold after a while. I didn't want to leave the water (because it felt cold outside of it), but I knew I would have to in order to get my warm clothes back on. We made a break for it, got our stuff, and headed back to the car around closing time. Perfect for us, we hit up a little cafe to get soy hot cocoa... SO YUMMY :)

After a busy day at the theme park, we stopped by Cafe Rio! I took full advantage of Taco Tuesday, and Derek got a really good burrito. By this time, the junk food, sun, and busy day was really hitting me! I went straight to bed when I got home. Our busy day totally tuckered me out!

In the mean time, we have been enjoying our time making meals together, watching shows, and trying to get some wedding stuff somewhat organized. Derek and I also picked out our awesome newlywed apartment! I cannot wait to make it our home!

Thanks for all the love, support, and help as we start our lives together!

First Comes Love, Then Comes Marriage...

I am so gosh darn freaking excited! There are no other words! :)

WE ARE ENGAGED!

Friday seemed to be pretty much a normal day. Went to classes, had lunch with Derek, had an exam, worked on a presentation, and Derek came to pick me up from class. We went out to run some errands and went back to his house to work on some homework. Derek planned to make yummy tostadas while I finished up paper for school.

When dinner time came, we sat down at the table and Derek lit a candle. It was fun, cute, and DELISHES (he is a fantastic cook!). At dinner we made plans to go ice skating for our date night. We hadn't gone together as a couple, and we were both looking forward to holding hands and falling everywhere together :P

By the time we got there (okay okay, I made us late...Derek got all dressed up and I felt underdressed so I made him take me home so I could get cute "real quick"...which never is as quick as it seems in my head...) we had about 45 minutes to skate, but it was just SO FUN! There were nerdy guys doing all sorts of tricks, another guy fell and cut his eyebrow open, and Derek and I had a grand old time. Didn't fall once!

We had decided to go back to Derek's house really quick to make some mexican hot cocoa because it was so cold! It had been stormy for the past few days. Little did I know, Derek had been praying his little heart out that the skies would clear up so we could go stargazing and he could propose. Miraculously, by the time we got home from skating, the skies were ALL CLEAR. I love going star gazing with him and I was so excited to go again, and I didn't really think too much of it!

We got out to the place on the Snake River Canyon that we normally go, and we talked, listened to music, and watched the stars for about two hours. Derek was frustrated because he kept trying to be really romantic (I promise you were!) but I just kept suckin' down my hot cocoa. I thought that hot cocoa only made it more fun, but he wanted a little quiet time. hahaha Sorry Derek!
Derek hopped down off the Jeep to "change the music", but instead of getting back up, he just stood there holding my hand. Then he picked me up off the car (he's like way buff) and stood me there in front of him. He kissed me, and then he got down on one knee!!! I was like FREAKING OUT! How is it that no matter how much you plan and discuss, when the moment happens, it still takes your breath away!

Derek knelt there with the ring box open just smiling at me...and after what felt like an eternity I finally said "Well, do you have anything to say?" He laughed and said yes, and said "Arianne, will you marry me?"

Well ladies and gentlemen, that's where I lost it. I started crying and laughing and smiling all at once and said a very enthusiastic "YES!"

We couldn't be more excited! We are so happy to have such loving and supportive friends and family to share this important moment with! Thank you thank you thank you!

Sincerely,
The Future Mrs. Askham :)
