Grateful Weekend.

I recently enjoyed this past weekend up in Payson, Utah (about 20 minutes South of Provo) visiting family. Well, it wasn't just a "vacation", (if any of you saw my previous post, I got my wisdom teeth out) but I managed to have a very nice time with family even with my swollen cheeks (Yes, I do mean my face :P).

My Grandma was sweet enough to let me and my family stay at her place over the long weekend. She made me a nice dinner the day that I got there, and she and grandpa were great company to have!

It was so nice to have my parents and sister there with me after I got my wisdom teeth out. I am soooo happy that they were with me instead of my silly plan of being by myself. Though some seem to have rougher times with their wisdom teeth extraction than others, mine went very smoothly. I have stitches now that I am trying to be careful of, but the pain is minimal. I was taking a prescribed pain medicine, which worked very well, but as of today I am just taking a little advil for the pain.

While we were up in northern Utah, I got to go with all the girls to watch my older sister try on wedding gowns! We had so much fun! She looked gorgeous in all of them but we all knew which dress was the PERFECT one for her July wedding! I can't believe I have to wait so long to see her in it again!

I drove the 2.5 hour drive from Payson back to Cedar this afternoon. I was so thankful that my dad checked my oil before I left. I was almost out! That drive is really bleak with long stretches between exits. Had my oil light come on, I would have been in a sorry state!

Once I did finally hit the road (about 45 minutes south of Payson) I realized I had forgotten my scriptures back at my grandma's house. I was really frustrated to have to turn around, but my mom met me a couple exits from Payson so I didn't have to drive all the way back! I better make that drive back worth it and study them really good tonight :P

The road conditions were great, without snow (which had been a worry). I found out when I got home that one of my sweet roommates slipped on some snow just this weekend and rolled her car. She walked away completely unharmed. I don't think I would have been as lucky or as brave!

I had a great weekend with my family! Looking back, I have much to be grateful for. Now I just have to make it through the next few days of midterms and such! Wish me luck! :D

Wisdom Teeth, Oh My!

Okay, first thing I will say: A lot of people told me how horrible it would be to get them out, and let me just say, I didn't think it was terrible at all! Let me tell you about my day!

Yesterday, my fam and I went to a place called "Utah Surgical Arts", which is very ritzy, might I add. They took an x-ray and gave me about a 5 minute consultation. I was really lucky, though I had all four wisdom teeth, only one was noted as "a little more difficult" removal because it was growing completely sideways. After a five minute wait, they brought me into the surgery room. I had an IV and oxygen through my nose, and a few things to monitor my heart and blood pressure. After, that, they gave me stuff to put me to sleep.
I was really nervous about going under anesthesia, but really there was no time for that. They said she was administering the dosage and I started to feel very funny. At first my reaction was to fight it, but then I just had to close my eyes! Apparently they didn't use as much as they thought they needed to because the surgeon told my parents I was a "light weight" haha.

I dont remember too much of after the surgery (like getting in the wheelchair or the car or something), but I do remember feeling pretty great! Almost all of my face was completely numb, which made it hard to eat things, but it didn't really matter too much after my mom gave me pain medicine (which put me to sleep sitting right there at the kitchen table!).

My parents are visiting Utah, so it is really nice to have them around. They bring me medicine (which I am alllwwayys up for :P), pudding cups, and mashed potatoes! I really hope heaven is like this. Really the food is one of my favorite parts about having my wisdom teeth out!

Chocolate, Tapioca, and Butterscotch pudding, Strawberry Ice Cream, Oatmeal, Cranberry Juice, Apple Juice, water, Butter and Herb and Four Cheese mashed potatoes, and a box of homemade butterscotch and cheesecake pudding! SOOOO Good!

My aunt stopped by and brought this ice pack that wraps around your head. I have been using it and absolutely loving it!
Here was me this morning, day two. My cheeks are a little swollen and feel tight, but its not too bad.
And here I am with the wonderful ice pack!

I have been warned that day 2 and day 3 are generally the worst, so I trying to stay on top of the pain and swelling. I am doing great so far!

Pretty much the only thing that is lame is that my boyfriend is really sick right now with a man cold. Of course I have been sympathetic to his WEAKNESS, but its a little hard to keep it up when I am the one who just had surgery! I would like a little sympathy from him! Hopefully when he gets his wisdom teeth out, I will be sick too so he doesn't get annnyyyy attention from me! :P

Reminisce.

So, I had plans to mope about my lonely valentines day, but the truth is, I hardly felt lonely at all :)

I woke up this morning to find Eric's pictures of his impromptu "trip" to visit me at SUU. With a clever use of photo shop and google maps, he certainly got me smiling :)
Eric "takes a picture" in front of the SUU sign. It was even sunny like this today!
My day went by so fast. In all of my classes we were talking about all this cheesy stuff with our neighbors and it was so fun! It really made me think about all the crazy times we have been through together.

Eric and I met about four and a half years ago in Sophmore english class. The very first day he sat across the room from me, and I didn't even notice (except when he said "I lost a 'lingual!). Apparently he noticed me though :P Seemed like the next day he switched spots to come sit by me and we pretty much became trouble makers in that class from that point onward. I asked him for his number, but only because I didn't want it to be awkward when I asked for the number of the guy who sat right next to him (because it's always less awkward when you just ask a general group, right? :P) Eventually, I realized that this guy who sat infront of him wasn't as cute as Eric was, so he gained my interest (not until after rejecting him...what are we at now...3...4 times? haha) over the next few years.

Outside EVIL Mrs. Truemper's class in High School
Eric and I went to Senior Prom together and had the time of our lives. Few months after, we went our separate ways to go to college (Him to WSU, and I to SUU). We have pretty much been rocking the whole long distance thin since then. It's hard, but I couldn't ask for a better person to go through all the sucky times with :)

Eric and I on prom night :)

Annual hike up Mount Si!
Awwwww (:
He especially makes it easy on days like today! I got a call from the housing office saying someone had delivered something special and I had to go and pick it up! Guess what! Eric got me flowers!
This picture doesn't really do them justice, they are SOOOOO beautiful and I am so happy!

Thanks Eric!
Not to be forgotten, my parents also gave me a very sweet package with a cute (and sparkley) card and yummy chocolates! Thanks guys!

Though I certainly wish I could be with my stud of a boyfriend, I definitely learned that relationships can be celebrated even miles apart. I could not be happier with anyone else (seriously guys, there are some total weirdo's out there), and I really do think I am the luckiest girl in the world. I am grateful that I found a guy who treats me so special :)

I hope you all enjoyed your valentine's day with your special someone!

Walmart Romance.

To continue my theme of looooovvveeee posts for valentines day, I would like to bring your attention to exhibit A:

Walmart attempts Romance
Yes. That is indeed a single rose, placed inside a clear latex heart-shaped balloon, encircled by bears. Now don't worry, if your girl isn't into the whole "rose" thing, you can get her something even more romantic. Such as a bear, inside a latext heart-shaped balloon, holding Valentines Day cake mix. Or, better yet, a bear holding a romantic movie (The Other Guys?!) inside that very same balloon. No doubt, you will have a memorable valentines day.

I have no problem with balloons. I suppose I just don't understand the appeal of putting any sort of gift inside a balloon. Is it that the men creating these things have never had success before, so they figure "Ah! She will love me if only I put it in a BALLOON?!"

Now, on another note, I will confess I have been quite taken up on valentines day this year. In the past, it's been fun and all, but seriously, this is like the second best holiday ever!!!! (Second to Christmas, of course). There are all these hearts everywhere and pink stuff and everyone is talking about love! It's so sweet!

I hope everyone enjoys there special dayyyy!

A Day Like This.

Sometimes,
Days make you feel a little....
Bleh.
And you think that at the end of it all, a popsicle will make you feel better.
Well, ladies and gentlemen, that popsicle just crumbled into an icy mess all over my lap.

The morning started off good enough. Felt kind of a weird haze though. Went to the gym around 11 and got frustrated by the fact that my machine didn't really work like it should (or at least, I didn't know how to make it work like it should!)

Made some lunch. I got these cute plain mini bagles from the store the other day and made little turkey sandwiches. Someone might wonder, if you are going to have two, why not just buy the big bagles? I am not exactly sure why, but these made me happy.

However, after eating my two bagles and a banana, I decided I needed a "side item". Though chips and salsa normally cuts it, I wanted something a little different. Over thanksgiving my mom gave me Garden Salsa Sun Chips (my FAVS) but they didn't have the right taste. Oh well.

I made yakisoba using some ramen noodles today. That was pretty good. I ate so much though, my stomach was bursting after. I thought I should go to the hospital and get my stomach pumped, but I took a nap instead. :P

The nap pretty much made me feel worse. Then I talked to Eric. Then I went and played some games with neighbors. Now that was really fun! I had a blast over there.

Yeaaahhh. Idk what it was. Today just wasn't a good day for me. And now I have repercussions from my "mood swing" to deal with. Stupid. Reaaaaally not diggin this whole thing right now.

10 Things I learned from "The Roommate"

Don't worry, I'm not going to give any of it away. Except for the parts you already know....Okay, well I might give some parts away. If you really really REALLY care about not knowing ANYTHING until after you see it, just wait to read this post.

1) I miss my boyfriend a lot more than I think. I mean, who is supposed to kill my psychotic roommate? Not that my roommate is psycho, she is quite pleasent...

2) Thank heavens I don't have a belly button peircing....

3) X-Acto knifes are probably not the best to just always have around.

4) If your roommate keeps calling you asking when you will be home- you should probably switch rooms.

5) And lets be honest, when you switch rooms, move to a room on the other side of the country.

6) It's really great to have a hot boyfriend who visits you at work, but couldn't he just wait around until you finish up at the shop? It would avoid a lot of scary situations.

7) There is a reason that pets aren't allowed in Dorms...or dryers for that matter.

8) If your professor tries to kiss you...that's messed up. I think that part was sort of ignored in the show...

9) Phones are meant for talking....ESPECIALLY if you don't know who you are talking to....End. Of. Story.

10) It is probably best to have a single room....

Okay, I am not going to tell people that they HAVE to go see this movie. It is pretty immature so adults probably wouldn't enjoy it, but college kids should go for sure. I really enjoyed it. Gave me a good scare :)

....hopefully I can sleep tonight :)

Things that make me feel quite grand.

1. Having people tell me stuff I work hard on is awesome.
Yea, who in their mind wouldn't like that? I had my photo project evaluated today by the class, and I got really positive feedback. I was pleased to see that a lot of the problems that I had with my shots were the same as other people's. The only difference was that I pushed through the frustration and fixed those issues. It's nice to get recognized by your peers and your professors for the hard work!

2. Looking at art.
This kinda goes along with the last one, but in my group evaluation for photo class today, I got to see all the pictures from the rest of the class! We spent about 30 minutes going around and writing comments. It is so cool to see how a group of 50 kids living in one small town came up with 400 unique photos and subject matter. I am really excited to look at everyone's projects again next time! So relaxing :)

3. Stretching.
Now I know all this stuff about not stretching "cold" muscles and stuff, but really, what feels better than doing a few hamstring stretches while watching tv? Makes me smile!

4. Learning something new.
Just as struggling with a new concept is frustrating, hearing information and instantly understanding is really awesome! In my nutrition class today we talked about the physiology (structure) of the human body, namely discussing the nervous system and digestive system. When you learn about all these amazing process your body just does to keep you going, you really learn to appreciate it! The chapter in our textbook is called "The Remarkable Body!" How true! Whether big or small, our body is an amazing creation! It's amazing to me how much goes on just to keep you awake, let alone alive!

5. Talking to my family.
Yes, they are for sure sick of it by now. I think I have called them like....everyday for the past week! Yikes! But it is nice just to talk about all these things that are going on in the world and not worry about looking stupid or something. I am excited to see them all soon and be able to see what everyone is up to around the house, including my little puppy Missy (who is super rude, BTW! She never talks to me on the phone! :P)They are pretty darn cool :)

6. I see my boyfriend in 38 days.
Which is almost 37, which is practically 36.... Which basically makes me smile!

Fin.
