Cool Things.

I really should be in bed. I am beyond tired. I thought I should give a little update of some cool, weird, or just plain things going on in my life.

Gymmmmm!
I have been working out good lately, and I even made the leaderboard for Dailymile.com. This is the leaderboard that has every user from this week on it. Now, its only tuesday, so 13 miles is good! I had to scroll down a lot to find me (1886th place!), but the important thing is I still beat all the people below me :)

Letteerrrrrrrr
I FINALLY got my letter from Eric today! That was 12 days! Longest we have experienced yet. I was so excited though because I sent him back (along with my letter) a beanie that I crocheted, and some delicious brownies! Hopefully a little treat can help him through all his hard classes! :O

Institute!
I am absolutely loving my institute class on "The Atonement and Book of Mormon". My teacher is really kind, and all the people in the class are fun! Today we talked about verses 1 and 2 of 2 Nephi 2, where Lehi is explaining that Jacob will suffer lots of tribulations because of the "rudeness" of his brothers. We went into a lot of detail defining what this meant, which was really great. At one point, Brother Rau used me and my institute seat neighbor.

Teacher: Now, let's say you all see Arianne on the front lawn, and Aaron is just whackin her with a biiiiig stick. Who would call 911?
Class *crickets crickets*
Teacher: ...Well folks, first things first, if you see someone hitting someone with a stick and hurting them, you should call 911. That is assult!
Class: *cricket*
Teacher: Anyways. Arianne, I promise you Aaron won't hit you with a beam, he is a nice kid.

In short, I learned that A) I can't trust anyone in my institute class, and B) My teacher thinks very highly of my institute neighbor.

Laundry.
It really is never ending. As soon as I get around to folding this, I will have unwashed clothes again. Ah well.

New Blog!
I am in a photography class. I post some of my pics on facebook, but actual assignment info and my portfolio will all be posted here. I think my "Arianne Katarina Photography" is a really cool name because the initials are the same as my real name! How fun :)

Night! <3

Resolutions.

1) Well, as part of an attempt to write in my journal and read scriptures everyday (which is actually going really well, I might add), I am deciding to put up a quick blog post (which counts as a journal entry) because I am just too lazy to try to find a pen at the moment...

So anyways, here I am.

2) A Job.

This week. People tell me it's nearly impossible. Like I have told maybe...10 people, and I have heard a bazillion sob stories about not getting jobs. I have been blessed with some great parents who actually let me hold jobs for the past 3 years, realizing that I wouldn't be able to keep up on other things as well. They probably wish they didn't (I think by senior year I did the dishes like...once a month. SORRY GUYS!), but I am so happy they did. I have a lot more experience here compared to other kids in the area.

I am not at all picky about what kind of job I land. I definitely am going to go around to gyms in the area to hopefully start up a zumba class, but I plan on exploring lots of options. My days have been really busy, but I really do need to kick my savings up a notch. Cross your fingers and say your prayers, cuz this chickee's lookin for employment!

3) Fun.

Cedar City isn't the most cheery of places, but my last resolution is to try to enjoy my (lassttt????) semester here. I believe only one of my roommates is staying here for sophmore year, so we are all sort of going our separate ways. I am trying my best to enjoy the time. It has started to warm up for a while, which is nice. One of my roomies and I went to St. George today and had tons of fun! We also went to family home evening combined with some other ward which -hold on to your hats- has MORE MEN THAN WOMEN. They also actually seemed like nice people. Very few of them had weird Cedar City accents. So, Cedar City 12th Ward, I think I will attend our combined activities from now on.

I have stayed up way too late and rambled far too much.

Ah well.

Fun in Cedar!

Well, not much happens, but I have really been picking up my crocheting!

First I made this scarf!
This has a REALLY easy pattern so I will include it in my post!
1) Chain 20
2) At end of chain, chain 3 and DC 20
3) At end of DC, chain 3, DC next row
4) Repeat until desired length
5) Once you have desired length, create ruffle around perimeter
6) Ruffle is created by: Chain 3, DC into 1 stitch
There you have it! :D

Crochet Beret!
This is a pattern I made up for myself, and I really like how it turned out! This pattern is much more complex compared to the scarf, but maybe I will sit down and try to write it out later for y'all if you want it :D

Here is me in the Ruffled Scarf and Crochet Beret I made!
I had so much fun making this, and can't wait to share these little creations with all my buddies :)

Friday night turned out to be fun! We played "What's Your's Like" with some buddies down the hall, and planned a trip to the Hot Springs! We want to go tomorrow, but we still need to choose which one. I wonder how that will turn out :P

Buh Bye! :D

Thank Goodness It's Friday! (Almost)

The girls in room 206 are having a busy, but fun week all the same! Just recently, we celebrated roomie #2's 21st Birthday!!!

Roomies, Cake, and the BIRTHDAY GIRRRL!!!

Okay, this is totally off key and sounds horrible, but I was far too excited to care! :P We all had a blast!

All in all, we made quite a mess, and had far too much cake for 6 college girls to handle, but we had so much fun! My birthday is next on the list! I can't wait for some treats and a few rounds of snorta! And of course, I am looking forward to be BEST birthday present of all, coming home for Spring Break to see my family and my BOYFRIEND (:

Classes areeeeee:
Interesting
Fun
Boring
Tiring
Torture (let me clear up this one. I pretty much need an I.V. to stay hydrated these days! Nothing is worse than being locked in by people when you are so thirsty your body is going to shrivel)
Cool
Educational
Expensive
Amusing
Exciting

I am really enjoying all of my classes! 18 credits is a lot to deal with, but I am excited to be making some progress as far as my education goes.

One class I haven't talked about yet is my LDS Institute class called The Atonement and the Book of Mormon. It is a great class! Today we looked at a lot of different paintings from Book of Mormon stories, and it was really nice! One of my roommates has an institute class at the same time, so it has been nice to get to walk over there with her instead of trudging in the snow alone!

I hope you all enjoy the new blog layout! Shabby Blogs was asking us to update our layouts anyway (due to their new server), so I thought I would switch things up :D

Mmmwuah!

Re-uh Re-uh Re-uh-ranging!

My roomie and I decided that we needed a little change for this semester to make our room a little more interesting. If you can't remember what it looked like before in the first few pictures in my SUU facebook album.

So, here are the changes!

This is what you see when you walk in our door! With the desks back to back in the middle of the wall, it gives us private space. We also love having Sara's dresser as a printer stand! No more bumping your head underneath your bed! :)

My side of the room!

View from the side of my bed.

My desk!!! :D
First day of classes was today as well! I had a busy, but great day!

7:30- Woke up SHIVERING! It was 0 degrees outside!

8:00- Went to the Post Office to pick up some packages, including my French textbook

9:00- Beginning French I
+This class was TONS of fun. Madame Leahy is my professor, and she has the best foreign language method I have ever seen. She spoke french 90% of the time on the very first day! It was really fun. She decided that it would be best if I moved to French II because I guess we weren't supposed to understand what she was saying for that whole half hour. I am excited to see what my French II professor is like, but I will really miss Madame Leahy!

10:00- Quantitative Reasoning
+ Best math class EVER. It's really great because everything we learn is interesting stuff I didn't know about before, but its really applicable. This will probably be a really easy class for me (100 level), but I am excited to learn some new things. Our first chapter we study is about voting statistics! So cool. Oh, and the teacher is the best ever. Not only is he pretty attractive (Eric says that at least that should keep my attendance up :P) but he is really funny and seems to teach in a very student-friendly manner.

11:00- Anthropology
+SOOOO many great friends in this class already! I am loving it. They all think I am funny, even the teacher :P I have some great books for that class, one about the life of a woman from a hunter-gatherer tribe!

1:00- Photography
+My teacher is young, (this is her first year teaching) interesting, and seems like a really hard-core teacher! She is even designating a day for "The History of Photography" where we get to learn about cameras and trends in photography since it started. Kinda neat!

2:00- Scientific Foundations of Human Nutrition
+LOVE my teacher. She talks really loud and has a great sense of humor. It seems like it will be a really great class to have at the end of the day, because she gets you laughin'! I already made some friends, including a mother who is going to school with her two daughters from Chile, and a recently returned missionary from Arizona who served in Argentina, who talks with a scotish accent....Yea...I really dont know whats going on there either.

The rest of my day included the usual, sorting out registration stuff, food shopping (THANK HEAVENS), and I did have to get the sweetest lady to help me jump my car. I made sloppy joes for dinner tonight, which was a first for me, and I am making a roast in my crock pot for tomorrow! The roast is way too big, but it was the cheapest they had and I really wanted to try my new slow cooker I got from my mother! :D

I had a great day today, and hope to have another good one tomorrow!

...just need a new car battery now :P

"I Just Can't Wait to go Back to Cedar City Where There Aren't Any People!"

...said the girl next to me in the shuttle. On my plane flight back from Seattle I was starting to think that maybe all I needed was just a little vacation from Cedar. But, as I have come to find out, vacations don't make lame places cool, they just make it so you don't explode.

Though I can't say I enjoyed coming back to Cedar City, I did really enjoy this months issue of Sky Mall.

For Example:
Men, do you have "slow runners"? Well, these shoes use spring technology to put a bounce back in your step:
And for those runs where you want to look a liiiiiiittle more fancy, try "red velvet/noir tango" runners!

Or:
Do you find plane flights UNBEARABLE?! Put yourself out of misery with RELEAF!

Whenever you feel like you can't handle it anymore, strap one of these guys on. Lights out in no time!

Last but not least:
Are you sick of looking at your brown, dingy lawn? Do you have a dog that just doesnt go to the bathroom? You are in luck! The "Dog Trainer Device" will solve ALL your problems! Carefully and purposefully hurl bricks at your dog when it is on a location you would like it to pee on. It will be wetting itself in no time at all!

Ah well.

In other news
-my older sister just got engaged this past weekend (Yayyy! :D)
-just celebrated my boyfriends 19th birthday this week! It was nice to be home for that :]
-new semester starts on MONDAY :O

I wish everyone luck as they get back to there normal, post-Christmas Holiday schedule!
